Michael Powell Stamps - Docraft

I fell in love with the Docrafts Urban Christmas stamp range by Michael Powell when I first saw them back in October, and bought a couple of them, as you do, not quite knowing when I'd use them.
I'm not one to do nothing when I'm sitting down, and as I'm spending quite a bit of time resting my leg following my op I decided to get the stamps out and have a go at making some hand coloured Christmas cards.  Armed with my distress pens, stamped images and a flat surface to work on up went my feet and for the first time in years I did some colouring in lol!!!!   It was really therapeutic.  I wasn't that happy with the overall look I got with the distress pens, even when I using the blender pen, so I did some research on the net, watched oodles of videos and ordered myself some Copic Ciao pens, (there's a few on my list to Father Christmas too!!!)  I'm now a Ciao addict.
The sky on the card above was my first attempt at blending with alcohol pens and  the houses and trees were coloured with distress pens.  I've got a way to go yet until I'm completely happy with the finished look but I was really pleased with how the stamped image popped out of the page.  I'm going to ink the card again using all Ciao pens when they arrive and compare results.  Will load some more pics up once I ve finished the images in the collection.

Have a crafty week everyone :-) C

  4. Oh dear, Copic markers. Purchasing the colors I want has been a challenge for me. I've ended up with a number of pens that were just too dark, too muted, too something other than the bright colors I want. And at about $5 US each that hurts! There is even a class taught at my local store on Copics, basic and advanced courses. Your doodle looks good, with nice vivid color. Shop on!

  5. Morning Clare, I love your card, your colouring is fantastic, I would love the Copics too, but they are so expensive, I stick to my promarkers as I don't do lots of colouring in ha ha. I love the stamp, it is really lovely.
It is 12.12.12 today, and it's my Birthday too, yipeeeeeee xx

    1. Helooooo Patricia, Happy Birthday to you for today. I hope you have a lovely day. How do you feel about being a Christmas babe!!! My son Oli, who'll be 20 on 17th Dec has never forgiven me for having him the week before Christmas :-) Its so hard to chose which markers to buy. I've spent hours watching videos, looking at suggested starter colours and trying to decide what stamps I like. I've gone for the range above, a couple of Molly Snedden Christmas stamps and ordered Christmas, skin and a few brights to start. The blues i used for the stamp above are pro markers. will compare results with the Ciao's when they arrive :-)
Have a lovely day today and keep warm if your out and about. C x

    2. Thank you Clare, that is lovely. When I was a child, all my pressies were 'for Birthday and Christmas', so no I wasn't amused either ha ha, but now I don't mind, so Oli has that to look forward to, maybe in another 10 years ha ha xx

  6. Clare, this is wonderful! I love how vibrant the colors are. If you hadn't told me this was sort of a new venture for you, I would never have guessed. You took to it like a duck to water.

  7. That card really "pops" Clare. I am a real fan of Copic markers and find them very easy to shade with unlike a lot of others. You can't see the joins!
Hope your leg improves each day, have a wonderful Christmas and thanks for sharing your ideas with us all.

There's a little improvement in the leg each day which is amazing. I'm feeling like a new woman already lol!!! Happy Christmas to you and your family. Bw C x

  8. Wow, your coloring as a newbie -- well, no one would know it. It's gorgeous and is far better than I would do as a start for sure! It's interesting to get your take on markers. Wonderful news to hear you're getting better. That's a Christmas gift in itself! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas, C!! Hugs, Ruth Ann :)

July Giveaway and crafty Weekend in Milford Haven

Morning everyone, Happy Monday to you.  I"m home after a fabulous weekend with Cheryl, Jan and Chris, at their fabulous shop, In House Interiors in Milford Haven.  It was a full house on Friday for our Artisan Style workshop where we constructed, painted and altered pencil cases and albums.  Saturday was demo day and another full house.  Cheryl, Jan & Chris, thank you so much for hosting the event for all your hard work and your hospitality, you really did spoiled me :-)  It's been quite a while since I've travelled over the border to Wales so I was quit excited as I passed the Welcome to Wales sign and then Raglan Castle. For those of you unfamiliar with our isle, Wales is full of magnificent Castles, sandy beaches, picturesque scenery and a gorgeous coastline.  I had to have a quick pit stop to see Raglan Castle. Saw my first Dragon too :-)   After a journey that took me across the middle of the country and th...
