Botanical Tea Upcycled Cup Cake Stand - Graphic 45 |
Morning, I'm back from my trip to the seaside and beavering away on a couple of new projects behind the scenes, so thought I'd share one of the samples I made for the Graphic 45 show I was on with Dean at Create and Craft TV at the end of April. It was full of muffins on the show that Dean and the floor crew ate once we were off air.
We all love a bit of up cycling and as I've saved a load of porridge pots I thought I'd put a couple of them to good use in this project. They have a handy cardboard label on them, and if you remove it carefully you have the pattern all ready to draw around, cover and turn into stands.
Along with the porridge pots I used up cycled card board boxes for the rounds and used a dinner plate as the template for the bottom one and a side plate for the top. Once all the pieces were cut out it was on with the decorating. I went for pinks and greens as there are so many different papers that compliment themselves in the Botanical Tea Collection. Heres a list of the other bits and pieces I used to pull the project together:
Martha Stewart border pouch - bottom of porridge pots
Envelope Punch Board - Ribbons
EK Success Daisy Border Punch - borders on rounds
Cup Cake Holders - pattern taken from one we'd eaten earlier
Its a really easy project to make and one that would look great on a party table
I'm off to finish some filming so enjoy your day whatever you have planned and look forward to catching up again soon :-) C
Brilliant project Clare. At the GNPE in March I bought some cake stands off the £1 man and they were brilliant, easy to put together and just cardboard,so painted and papered and they look great. I make sticky note pads to sell on my stall (along with other stuff!), and I use the cakestand to show them off!
ReplyDeleteYou were great as always when you were on with Dean. Hope to see you soon. DebbieX
Hi Debbie, lovely to hear you like my little cake stand. Its a bit different to the last which I'll share tomorrow - a blast from the past. Your stall sounds really exciting and good luck if your selling this weekend xx catch up again soon
DeleteGood Morning Clare, Glad to read that you had a good break away from the stresses of life. I love today's project and agree with Debbie above, your last couple of shows on C&C were fab (as always)! Thanks for sharing this with us and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day even though I suspect you are beavering away on some new project or other! Take care

Hi Margaret, how right you are. Have been filming all morning and have now ground to a halt as both memory cards for the vid machine thingy are flu!!! They look blank to me so am trying to fathom out whats happened and get finished while I have the house to myself. Hope alls well with you and you enjoyed time with your visitors xx Speak soon and enjoy the rest of your day
DeleteHi, I always read your posts, but don't always speak up. Two things 1) I know a porridge pot must be like our soup bowls. At least I think so ;) but where in the pic are they? I know, silly question. My sweetie always tells me I'm too curious. I don't know if there can be such a thing.... anyway. 2) This is a lovely piece, it would, indeed, be gorgeous on a a party table. Like a bridal shower. Or with different paper, a baby shower. Thanks for sharing your talent with us. Hugs, Jess
ReplyDeleteJessica it looks like to me that the porridge pots are in the middle of the cake stand holding each section up, I think they must be like a Starbucks cup!!! Or possibly a cardboard cup like we use to get hot coffee in.
DeleteJust a guess on my part.

Afternoon Clare, Love looking at your blog everyday and today ,s is great. I liked this cake stand when you showed it on C&C and must give it a go sometime soon as I have quite a few cards to make this month.. I'll' have to change my breakfast porridge from the 'envelope' type to the 'pots' first though, although I suppose I could use the larger yogurt pots and use bigger plates.... well, that way you can get more cakes on for a party, can't you? Hope you got your video camera sorted. i wish that I could lend you a 9 year old to help as they always seem to know how to work these things. Hugs Pauline A
ReplyDeleteVery cute Clare, as always!!! Bet if we used matte medium on them it would seal them so we could use them over again if we put candies or cakes on it. Hope you are rested up after your trip and visit to sister but I doubt it as that mind must be designing all the time, lol!! Take care my friend, can't wait to see videos.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Judy
