Crafting for Christmas ......

Hi everyone, thanks for calling by.  Today I'm sharing two new Christmas Paper collections with you, new in from Scrapmir along with some simple card ideas.
Our first collection is Nordic Spirits.  With a gorgeous mix of rustic browns, ice blue/greens, reds, snow flakes and pine cones the collection has a wonderfully rustic feel to it.
There are 10 double-sided 190gsm sheets in the paper pack, which comes in both 12 x 12 and 8 x 8, and additional chipboard elements, epoxy stickers and flairs to add detail and dimension to your projects.  Here's a few card ideas from this collection a video walkthrough of both paper collections and card ideas for the second of our Christmas collections too.
Nordic Spirits card - Scrapmir
I've used kraft card blanks for the base of my cards from this collection along with opera red mirror card to add a little shine.
Nordic Spirit Card Scrapmir
For this card I took one small and one large out sentiment from the collection, mounted both on red card (the larger one is reversed) and then layered them over the snowflake paper.  All are mounted on Opera Red mirror card.  I added a little twine and three small red buttons from my stash for additional detail.

For this card I combined the wood effect and knit ice green/blue papers with the brown pine cone paper, added a shaker oval around the sentiment, a few epoxy stickers and a sentiment mounted on silver mirror card and foam pads.  A really simple card but so effective.

For this half sized top folding card I cut the card base down to 3" deep, mounted the festive light, and knit paper pieces onto silver mirror card and added a sentiment.  It was so quick to make.  I did go back and add a little glossy accents to all the light bulbs to help them shine.

And for my last card I cut 1" off the right hand front edge of the card, used the 12 x 12 knit paper to decorate the inside, mounted the left over piece with some log paper on silver mirror card to the front panel and added a sentiment also mounted on mirror card and foam pads.  I highlighted the string of lights with a little Ivory Seashell Crystal Drops from Tonic and added the last of my epoxy stickers above the sentiment.
Here's the walkthrough of the paper collections if you'd like to see them in more detail.
Now onto our second paper collection - Christmas Night.  With it's traditional colour palette and vintage images this is a gorgeous collection to craft with.  The paper pads come in 8 x 8 and 12 x 12 and have 12 single-sided sheets making choosing which paper to work with really easy.  There's also chipboard pieces and flairs to embellish your projects with too.  Here's my sample cards:
I started with a red 5 x 7 card blank and cut it 5" wide. With the fold at the top I added a base of holly paper and a centre motif from the cut-apart sheet of sentiments.  I used red mirror card and a couple of circle dies to cut out the round frame, added a flair to the centre and mounted the assembled centre on foam pads.  To add a hint of sparkle I used Christmas Red stickles from my stash to highlight the berries.
Christmas Night Card - Scrapmir
This is a teeny weeny card, I used half of the 7 x 5 red card blank, folded the short ends together and then added the cut paper pieces and border strip to the front.  The focal pint of the card is the gorgeous postcard cut-apart, mounted on red mirror card and the chipboard sentiment finished it off, highlighting the text with a little glossy accents and a sprinkle of Crystal glitter.
Christmas Night Card - Scrapmir
This card is very similar to the one above but on a full sized red card blank.  I've used the larger cut-apart from the 12 x 12 paper for the centre feature and a cut out from the paper to add the sentiment.  A few red sequins finished off the look.
Another 7 x 5 side folding card, with the vintage picture a twine bow and a sparkly red button I found in my stash.  I loved the simplicity of this one.
Christmas Night Shaker Card - Scrapmir
For my last card I used a 6 x 6 White card base, green and yellow papers, a border strip and then created a raised shaker feature to sit over the clock striking midnight.  The sentiment was cut from the paper, adhered over the shaker window to hide all the little beads and the twine was added before the shaker element was attached to the card.  The gold sequins finished off the look.
I really enjoyed making the cards this week - the collections really are beautiful to work with.

  1. Great cards - I particularly like the teal/wood/pine cone combination ones - so pretty in those natural colours.
