Bird Song Projects on the Graphic 45 Blog Mon Nov 19th

Hello Everyone,

just a quick heads up to let you know that tomorrow Alberto and I have a couple of design team projects on the Graphic 45 blog. Both of them have been made from the gorgeous Bird Song paper collection and are full of oriental charm and inspiration.

Here's a sneak peak of my project. I used sheets of 2mm chipboard, carefully cut and stuck together with card tabs, painted black and then lacquered before being covered with papers from the collection.

  4. This is so gorgeous Clare! I would love to see more about how you did this! My daughter loves everything Chinese and would love a box like this in her room - in fact she has a collection of chopsticks that her friend brought her from China that would be perfect in a box like this! Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful project!

    1. Hi Becky thanks for stopping by my blog today. I cut all the lid and base pieces of the box pieces out of grey 2mm chipboard, the lid pieces are 2mm longer/wider than the base. They were all stuck together with black card tabs at the corners and along the centre of the lid and base sides. The inside piece that the chopsticks sit on lifts out and the gold elastic is threaded through from the back to front over sticks and rests and then secured underneath. the feet are polystyrene balls painted black. Once assembled painted and lacquered I cut the paper pieces out and glued them in place before lacquering again. I've dropped the business card which is in mandarin of the person that presented me with the chopsticks in the box under the lift out section that hold the chopsticks too. Hope this helps. Bw c

  5. Hi again Clare, I would never in a million years have guessed from your sneaky peak, what an absolutely fantastic creation, it is stupendous, and I'm glad that you gave some details to Becky above, I think I will be trying this as I have quite a few decorative chopsticks too. You come up with some really ingenious ideas, and your flair with the use of the papers is 'second to none', I am in awe of you.
I am in the middle of making a male 60th Birthday card, I'm using G45 A Proper Gentleman papers, which are beautiful, but I never really enjoy making male cards, I prefer 'girlie' cards with lots of embellies on them ha ha. I wish I had your artistic flair.
Lots of love from Patricia xx
PS I left a comment for you both on G45 xx
