I was very touched recently to be asked, by the very talented Sally Elve Butler if I'd put together a few layouts using her papers for the Crafting Times stand at the  'Who Do You Think You Are Show, at the NEC, Birmingham next month.  Of course I said yes.
I'd first come across Sally's Titanic paper collection at Ally Pally a couple of years ago and dithering about came home without buying them.  I searched the net but never managed to find them, and then just happened across a large black binder when I taught at Crafting Times for the first time.  As I opened it I couldn't believe what was inside........... the Titanic papers I'd wished I'd bought, along with many other beautifully designed family heritage papers by Sally.   I bought them :-) and have been holding onto them ever since just waiting for the right project to come along.  We had a get together, talked about the projects and I came away with a few more papers and embellishments to get crafting with.
After doing a bit of research on WW1 heritage I decided to base my layouts on the famous 'In Flanders Fields' poem, and after reading it decided to add some dimension with poppies grasses and the fence and build my pages around the poem and a WW1 soldier.  I was quite moved putting them together and was really pleased with how they came together.  We're putting them into two red frames to protect the detail and will be running a class for the layout at Crafting Times.  Watch this space for dates and details if you're interested in coming along.  Here's a few more pictures of the dimension:
I had to make a memory box using the Titanic papers, photos and memorabilia that come 's in the collection having finally found them  I loved how this one evolved too. It was eerie to have the crew, who I think all lost their lives looking out at me as I pieced everything together.
