critters under the sea shaker card........

Lawn Fawn card

Well hellloooooooo my loverly, hows your day goin' ....   Harry's dungarees went down a storm ... tick in the box for Mum there lol!!! I thought my luck was in too, big time on Friday night.  Had an e mail from lottery HQ with good news about my lottery ticket. When I logged into my account I'd not won the millions I'd imagined and spent between 2 and 5am (was still up) ........ just the amazeballs sum of £2.50.....................  to add to the three lucky dips I've won in three weeks.  Now, what to spend it on lol!!

My night of no sleep is catching up on me so I've grabbed a coffee and sat down to catch up on some of the Glastonbury coverage on the TV - not a muddy boot in sight lol!! and thought I'd share a how to make with you.
I used a couple of Lawn Fawn stamp sets and distress inks to make these fun little cards.  Heres how to build it up if you fancy making one yourself. the supply list is at down at the end of the post.
You need a 6" x 4" card black and two pieces of white card both 4 x 6"   Work on one of these and put the other pieces to one side.
Use your paper trimmer to cut a border 1.5cm in from the edge of your card piece but don't cut right up to the corners in a couple of places, to keep the centre section inn your card while you ink it.  (see bottom right of card below)
Decide which way up you want your card to be and blend tea dye ink at the lower edge to give a sandy effect to your cardblend.  Blend a mix of mermaid lagoon, peacock feathers tea dye and evergreen boughs distress ink around your frame pulling a lighter depth of the colour into the middle area.
blend a mix of the same inks on offcuts of white card to create unique shading and then stamp out some jelly fish, sea horses and ferny bits. Cut them out, cutting on around outer edge of the stamped image  (I went a bit doo lally with my stamping and only cut out three jelly fish, sea horses and ferny bits).
Stamp out a couple of whales on white card using Memento black ink and colour in using C2 & C3 Copic markers. Cut out.
Place one whale on your card and use as a guide to stamp some little fishies below. Add some bubbles too. Remove the whale, take a damp paint brush, some paper towel and using a little water dab the ink from the fish and bubbles.  Sprinkle some drops of water ont o the card, leave for a few seconds and dab off to leave a speckled effect.  Colour the fish in again using Tea Dye ink.
Critters in the Sea Lawn Fawn
Stamp the sentiment on the lower pat of your frame and the air spray above the whale. Then position the elements you want to add into your frame.  Stick the ones you've put on your frame in place with a little glue and then split the frame from the centre. Stick all your other elements down. Use foam pads to raise them up a level if you like. Don't forget to put the whale back in too!
Put two layers of double sided tape around the outer edge of your second 6 x 4" piece of card (no gaps) and stick your coloured centre in the middle. I used a cotton bud and a little talc to remove some of the sticky from the inside of the tape before the exciting bit - throwing in some sparkly stuff.  I went for heart confetti, white sequin waste a little sea green glitter and some turquoise seed beads but you could add what ever you have in your stash..
Cut  a piece of acetate 3 3/4" x 5 3/4" and stick to the back of your frame with double sided tape.  Then remove the backing tape off your top layer on the base card and stick the frame to the base. To finish add the completed piece to your card base and maybe a little critter inside too :-)
and thats it, one sea themed shaker card ........................ all ready to send to someone special.

  4. These cards are way too cute! I'm new to shaker cards. Love those beads moving around. Not so keen on sequins for myself, but I know kids love them!
