We will always Remember...........

Evening everyone, my post today is dedicated to Armistice Day and the memory of the brave men and women who served our country and sadly didn't return.

My 'Peace' plaque was created using PaperArtsy stamps and paints in creams yellows and toffee. The background has five layers of stamping and paint wash on it to create the hazy effect. My poppy was stamped out three times on tissue paper, painted on the reverse and then curled and layered over the stalk. The centre was stamped separately, cut out, layered over the petals and then I used paper glue and flowersoft to create the texture. The poem and soldiers were stamped on tissue paper, painted on the reverse and then stuck in place so they appear in the foreground. When I'd finished I thought the plaque had a strangely ethereal feel to it.

I'm beavering away here on the larger projects for next week - they're looking good and very Christmassy :-) I'll share another one with you tomorrow. Until then enjoy your evening and thanks for calling by: -)

  1. Lovely plaque.....I've posted this onto my USA girlies who, as well as loving your work, adore poppies in the hope they may be able to recreate one for themselves. xx

  4. Beautiful Clare, as always!!! We must always remember our fallen heroes, my husband passed away 6 years ago this month, was in the Marine Corps, did two tours of Viet Nam, and actually died from complications of Agent Orange all these years later. We are immensely proud of our young men and women serving in our military as you all are and will always keep them in our hearts and minds. Your tribute is lovely and I am sure the UK is proud of you and yours. Thank you for sharing.

  7. Never thought of stamping onto tissue paper. The lightness of the tissue adds to the etheral effect. As I look at the plaque, it transports me back in time.....

July Giveaway and crafty Weekend in Milford Haven

Morning everyone, Happy Monday to you.  I"m home after a fabulous weekend with Cheryl, Jan and Chris, at their fabulous shop, In House Interiors in Milford Haven.  It was a full house on Friday for our Artisan Style workshop where we constructed, painted and altered pencil cases and albums.  Saturday was demo day and another full house.  Cheryl, Jan & Chris, thank you so much for hosting the event for all your hard work and your hospitality, you really did spoiled me :-)  It's been quite a while since I've travelled over the border to Wales so I was quit excited as I passed the Welcome to Wales sign and then Raglan Castle. For those of you unfamiliar with our isle, Wales is full of magnificent Castles, sandy beaches, picturesque scenery and a gorgeous coastline.  I had to have a quick pit stop to see Raglan Castle. Saw my first Dragon too :-)   After a journey that took me across the middle of the country and th...
