The Countdown to Christmas continues ...

Joy to the World Lantern and Christmas Advent Box Graphic 45
Morning everyone, I've been busy creating the samples for the project options we'll be making at my Crafters Weekend Retreat next month. Today I'm sharing the the Lantern Kit and Large Box with Aperture Kit altered here as an alternative Christmas Advent Box. Both projects have been altered in papers from the Joy to the World collection by Graphic 45.
Lantern Kit Joy to the World My Creative Spirit
The lantern kit, cut from 2.25micron grey board comes in four flat packed A3 sheets, and when assembled stands at approx 20" tall.   It's such a versatile kit that can be altered to suit any occasion.  I used three traditional Christmas coloured papers from the Joy to the World collection and gave the lantern a festive make-over, added acetate behind the double arched centre section which can hold three battery operated tea lights for a really bright shine, or just one as shown, for a warm twinkle. The sections of the lantern come apart for easy storage too.

I've added die cut trim over the side edges of the lantern lid cut from an old Sizzix border die, a trail of red stickles for an additional twinkle, a battery powered tea light wrapped in a strip of coordinating paper and a painted wooded drawer knob to the very top.

The small spray of artificial Christmas greenery and berries is held in place through a hole punched in the front of the base.
Now onto the alternative Advent Box........
Joy to the World Advent Box Graphic 45
This is our Large Box with its Aperture Lid kit. Cut from 3mm MDF this easy to assemble box measures 11 ½" x 7 ⅝" x 8" and has an optional opening cut into the lid so you can add a drop scene sealed under acetate.

This box is so adaptable and would make a great memory box, baby box, wedding box, Christmas Eve box, Birthday box or a Christmas table present box Add grown up contents for a loved one or sweet treats for the children.

Tie the gifts/treats to the end of ribbons to create and alternative style advent box, add names to the tags for a Christmas Table Box or hide them under shredded paper for a hamper effect. I'm sure you can think of so many other ways to decorate this versatile box too.
The kit comes with the pictured laser cut MDF numbers and tags. Just add your own choice of papers, embellishments and ribbons.

July Giveaway and crafty Weekend in Milford Haven

Morning everyone, Happy Monday to you.  I"m home after a fabulous weekend with Cheryl, Jan and Chris, at their fabulous shop, In House Interiors in Milford Haven.  It was a full house on Friday for our Artisan Style workshop where we constructed, painted and altered pencil cases and albums.  Saturday was demo day and another full house.  Cheryl, Jan & Chris, thank you so much for hosting the event for all your hard work and your hospitality, you really did spoiled me :-)  It's been quite a while since I've travelled over the border to Wales so I was quit excited as I passed the Welcome to Wales sign and then Raglan Castle. For those of you unfamiliar with our isle, Wales is full of magnificent Castles, sandy beaches, picturesque scenery and a gorgeous coastline.  I had to have a quick pit stop to see Raglan Castle. Saw my first Dragon too :-)   After a journey that took me across the middle of the country and th...
